This just in from the gang at DST:
Fans all over the world are gearing up for Marvel Studios’ next sure-fire blockbuster Iron Man 2 and at Diamond Select Toys we are excited to reveal details surrounding our previously Top Secret Iron Man 2 Minimates! Due in stores this March, two new assortments of Minimates are sure to thrill fans of all ages!
While one particular high-flying armor-clad character will remain hidden until the March release date, we can now reveal the full contents of our upcoming Marvel Minimates Series 35 Assortment and Iron Man 2 Single Pack Minimates Display. Rounding out the cast of Series 35 is the high-tech army builder paired with Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan – Hammer Industries’ Hammer Drone! Glimpsed only briefly in the Iron Man 2 trailer, not much is known about the Hammer Drones – except that Iron Man and War Machine will apparently square off against an entire squad of them at some point during the film.
The biggest reveal comes in the form of our Iron Man 2 Single Pack Minimates Display, a special set of individually boxed Iron Man 2 Minimates limited to only 500 cases. This set was under complete lockdown, however now we can reveal the full contents!
Each display will include 12 individually packaged Iron Man 2 Minimates, including:
Air Assault Drone
Ground Assault Drone
Sea Assault Drone
Tactical Assault Drone
Plus limited short-packs found in every case featuring:
Battle Damaged Hammer Drone
Justin Hammer
Styled after the four branches of the US Military, exact how these high-powered armors will come to exist and what their creation means for Iron Man remains to be seen – but we can’t wait to find out! Retailers can still order this limited set as part of their January 2010 Previews orders, so if you want these Iron Man 2 exclusives to become a part of your collection make sure you let them know before it’s too late!
Check out DST’s website for individual shots of the army building sets.

I swear just when I try to stop collecting something they always come out with something cool to pull me back in…

Well I got bored of Iron Man mates a long time ago and was sure I wouldn’t touch these… But look at those drones!!!! They’re hot! Sounds like I’m back in…

I had hoped/thought the individually packed minimates would be the same as the one from the wave (I’m not overly interested in Pepper or Happy but I do want that Drone), but what they’ve done is MUCH better. Can’t wait to add them to my collection!

Ok, wasn’t gonna touch the Iron Man 2 wave- but the drones are a must have! Now how about some comic villains huh?
January 21st, 2010 - 11:49 PM
war and whip are still the only ones I care for but I think I’ll get some of these drones

@ Zenaku
Agreed! Art Asylum is just jumping on the bandwagon to make money off the movie. I don’t blame them and I understand. I have NEVER been interested in the movie minimates. The more movie minimates they make the more money I keep in my pocket. I wish AA would put as much effort into making more villains from the comic books.

It’s already been said elsewhere (i think Gillbob316 first mentioned it) , but i’m worried that this is not the best way to ‘test the waters’ for single-pack marvel army builders.
These are pretty cool looking robot guys, but i don’t think they are gonna have the ‘comic-shop’ appeal the more recognisable marvel 616 characters like Hellfire Goons, Aim agents, Shield agents, Infinite Soldiers etc . . . would have.
I’m apprehensive that if these guys don’t perform well – we’ll never see single packed army builders from the 616 universe.

I agree w/ Nessex- hopefully the cries will be heard and single-pack army builders will be in the future, maybe w/ alternate armor for squad leaders or something

Targeting the movie and comic fans with these army builders is safer for them than just focusing on the comic fans. I can also see customizers turn these into mecha’s, Transformers, etc.
I agree that these had better do well if we ever want to see Marvel comic based single pack army builders.
I’m willing to do my share and build a small Drone army, because they look simply awesome!
And the crying helps, but we shouldn’t just be doing it here. Writing them e-mails with wish lists helps even more.

Nice discovery monolith!
It even has a Shaft Minimate!
Hmmm, I wonder what’s up with the eyepatch…

Hey, just doing my part, hahah.
Also, I should change that to “faceplate that’s flipped up”. It’s late, what can I say.
And yes, either Shaft… or Pirate Morpheus!
Ahh man. Matrix Minimates. Why haven’t I thought of that before.
