Art Asylum is unveiling the 34th series of Marvel Minimates. Mutant-loving fans of the 90′s will likely be thrilled.
Things kicked off Friday with a posting on Art Asylum, showing off the first in the new assortment: Cyclops
Attached to the post was a link to DSTMatt’s Twitter account, where he’s been debuting a link to the new reveal each day since.
Saturday yielded everyone’s favorite blue fuzzball (that doesn’t teleport), Beast.
Today, we get the Southern Belle herself, Rogue.
Only time will tell what the next four days will hold, but it’s probably a safe bet that we’ll see more X-Men, maybe a villain, and perhaps even an army builder figure. We’ve already got a Sentinel and Multiple Man on the way, so what other army of villains could our mutant heroes square off against?

Villain: Mr. Sinister or Omega Red
New Nightcrawler or Colossus?
Jim Lee Jean Grey?

Count me in with those who want to see Mr. Sinister, Prof. X w/ hover chair and an updated Juggernaut — but if it’s specifically the Jim Lee Blue & Gold teams they’re working on here, you’d need Jubilee, Jean Grey and an updated Bishop to complete it. I’d be down with any of those.
As far as army builders? There’s the Shi’ar, Brood, Phalanx, Hellfire goons, Hand ninjas… any of those could be used to make a standard figure for army building, I’d think.
As for me… I’m still waiting for the wave of angry humans w/ anti-mutant protest signs, heh.

These are spectacular. But I’d put my money on a Jubilee and a new Bishop (since we’ve got a new Cable on the way too)

Rogue looks great. My only nitpick would be to make her hair a brighter shade of brown. Closer to the cartoon version. So far she’s my favorite of this series.
Jean Grey, Jubilee and Bishop are the most logical choices for the next three spots.
Monolith has a good list of potential army builders.
I hope it’s the Shi’ar and that we’ll get a Prof. X w/hover chair & Lilandra two pack in a next wave.
I also think a boxset of Avalanche, Pyro, Toad and the Blob would compliment this wave nicely, but that’s wishful thinking really…

Jubilee! Pleeeeease be Jubilee!! And Banshee!! those are my only 2 request. i’m ok without Jean cuz i like my Phoenix Jean… Rogue is great, but honestly i don’t need another Beast or Cyclops… although i guess i could put my SI Beast with the Avengers…
so now we’ve got Jim Lee Cyclops, Beast, Rogue, Storm, Gambit and Psylocke… not bad!

Okay, already love this wave don’t care who else comprises it, it has my affection. Tho Beast looks a bit odd being so tall-ish but hey I suppose it works for ol’ blue boy

You know, I really like the new Beast, myself. I’m hoping the hand pieces make the arms longer, so when he’s posed in a crouch, it’ll give him the ape-arm look(and crouching also handles any height discrepancies that may come from making him so bulky).
The pieces flaring out at the elbows/knees is a nice touch that’s spot on for the Jim Lee version as well. Pretty cool. Much better than the odd manga-esque Astonishing X-Men Beast and old-school SI Beast.

Enough re-making the same characters over and give us some new ones…INHUMANS box set anyone?!?
November 9th, 2009 - 9:36 AM
the army builder was just revealed to be a Hellfire Guard
With Jean being an almost certainty then that leaves one spot, im hoping for a new nightcrawler but a villian wouldnt be too bad either

My morning started off crappy when I got to work, then I took a break to check the mate news and now I can’t stop smiling!

Funny how a guy named “arkangel” is complaining about more X-Men….
Really kind of indifferent about this era of the X-Men. But they sold millions of comics, so I guess it makes sense. Jean Grey would seem a lock, and Mr. Sinister a natural. After that, I dunno. Anyway, they’ve made so many ‘mates that I want recently that I don’t mind a set that’s not my thing. Just please, no X-Force.

This is seriously what I’ve been waiting for. I really hoped after getting the 90′s era Wolverine and Gambit and seeing Storm that we could get some other X-men from my childhood.
Cyclops looks perfect.
Beast (my favorite x-man) seems a little awkward. The more I look at it the more I like it, but I hope they make a few adjustments (his hair and torso don’t seem to fit right) before the final. I was worried SI Beast was the closest we were going to get, but I’m thrilled we’re getting 90′s furry blue beast with no cat-face.
Rogue looks amazing. Her old figure was good, but this one nails it.
I can’t wait.

I’m diggin’ the 90′s X-men figures. I’m hoping to see Jean Grey, Jubilee, Bishop, or Mr. Sinister finish out this wave.
