Industrious Multiverse member LDroome has found what might be the next license that goes the Minimate route.
In a YouTube video, four Minimates based on characters from the Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose comic are showcased, with a message suggesting these will come in time for the holidays this year.
I’m inclined to label this as rumor for the time being, but the quality of the Minimates that are shown do seem to be pretty good, suggesting that these are official to some capacity. On top of that, we know that Art Asylum has done a Tarot statue, so they have a license for the character.
I suspect we’ll have more news regarding this with Toy Fair and C2E2 coming up.

Tarot?! God. The only reason I’m not weeping is because this might mean we’ll get some other Indiemates. But geez, if they had trouble selling The Spirit to comic book stores, do they really think Tarot will do better?

You know, I’m getting the feeling that maybe this license reveal was supposed to debut at Toyfair, but then got leaked a wee bit early when the colorist for the Tarot comics (I think) posted that YouTube video. There’s also a teaser for these on Jim Balent’s website, though be warned that his site is NSFW.
In fairness I quite like these despite not having read the original comic, and I’m actually quite excited to get my hands on them. IMO these might have a slightly better shot at attracting retailer attention than The Spirit since the characters are so visually appealing and vividly-detailed. I may even say that the execution of these mates is almost on par with the original Indiemates boxset, except hopefully with less parts breakage.

I’ve never read these books, but the ‘Mates look pretty darn good. I’ll be buying these just because the detail is so nice, and to show support for the line.

These are great looking! The 3 ladies look like they should be supernatural strippers or pornstars. LOL! Bring ‘em on!
